Sorry Entertainer Anthology

Roll up you guys! The stellar folks in Bristol, Simon M and Nick Souček have been putting together a wicked jangle of comics all around the seed of the Sorry Entertainer. And I’m dead excited to be in it alongside some pretty gorgeous talent!

But to get this cavalcade to you we need cash, and so if you’ve got a little sloshing about, hey, can we have some? The team have started up an IndieGoGo fundraiser where you can find out all about it, who’s in it and donate (for rewards too). So crack out a couple of quid (only if you can actually afford it) and let’s see if we can get this thing into print by the end of May.

And in other news, I’m sitting on a pile of fun stuff and raring to show you. If only this sun would disappear so I could go inside and put it on the internet.

EDIT: The sun’s gone, but I’m on the road again. Updates start Monday and we’re gonna gun it and go daily for a couple weeks x

but then,

Well four hours after I shout about my anthology plans I get a prod from Facebook inviting me to contribute to a new Oxbridge comics anthology, 9th Art Magazine. The first issue (put together just in Oxford) is online and is pretty darn good by anthology standards. Also of note, it seems to have funding (sponsors and advertisers) and has printed 3000 copies of issue 1 and been distributed them for free. That’s a lot by small press standards.

So anybody interested in doodling a bit and getting published should get in touch with them – deadline for the next issue is 1 May, with details of how to do it all here. The (optional) theme is ‘Idea of the Century’.

But then what of my small press plans? We know I’m not really into all this sponsored advertising stuff, and the magazine is extremely centred on the Universities right now (also weirdly, they seem to insist comics must have a narrative in them. What?) . So I think I’ll keep the bits of my anthology I was most excited about – getting comics from friends – and see if anyone’s up for making a little zine instead.

Cambridge Comics Anthology!

Hey guys! I’m starting to put together an anthology of comics from creators living in or connected with Cambridge. This is a draft for the poster advertising it and calling for submissions, which will have a deadline added to it and will then be stuck to the city’s exposed flanks.

I’m still tinkering with the website (and suffering from perfectionism with it), which should explain everything, and so it’ll have its own site and a facebook group and oh boy. Once they’re all set up (next few days) and I guess not before, I’ll link them and ask you all to spread the word.
